Who is Dave?

Dave started shaping in 1967 as a freshman at Newport Harbor High School in Newport Beach California. As a senior he established the first ever Harbor High Surf Team. He earned his first contest victory in 1970 at a WSA Event at Doheny State Beach.
In 1971 Dave moved to Santa Barbara to attend UCSB where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. Although, his real major was building his clientele base for his growing manufacturing business.
During his time at UCSB, he sharpened his surfing skills at the many point and reef breaks in Goleta and Santa Barbara. He also increased his big wave prowess at Jalama, Hollister Ranch and occasional trips to the Central Coast.
As a high school and college student Dave honed his shaping and glassing skills making boards for friends and acquaintances in various underground shaping and glassing factories.
Dave is a proud husband, father, and grandfather. Grandpa is known for his “scary stories” and always being ready to get goofy. He is the life of the party and a true friend.
Throughout his career he has had many surfing accomplishments. Too many contest victories on both long and short boards to count, including 3 Rincon Classic Titles.
Spend a few minutes with Dave and you will find out his passion for surfing runs deep.  When he is not surfing, he can be found enjoying his passion for music. He is an accomplished musician. Playing harmonica and other instruments in several local bands.

The love and joy for life that Dave puts into each and every day shines through in his magnificent board creations.
